In most cases. This applies today where they summarise\u00a0responses from a readers&#8217; survey leading to a list of 10 things their readers think ought to be in the manifesto but which are not:-<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>1) Embrace radical electoral reform<\/p>\n<p>2) Build more houses &#8211; particularly for social rent<\/p>\n<p>3) Introduce a living wage<\/p>\n<p>4) Renationalise the railways<\/p>\n<p>5) &#8230; and the utilities companies<\/p>\n<p>6) Reverse the outsourcing of public services<\/p>\n<p>7) Get rid of tuition fees entirely<\/p>\n<p>8) Introduce higher taxes for the wealthy (and wealthy businesses)<\/p>\n<p>9) Bring in a financial transaction tax<\/p>\n<p>10) Reject TTIP, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/2015\/apr\/10\/10-things-guardian-readers-think-should-be-in-the-labour-manifesto\">https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/2015\/apr\/10\/10-things-guardian-readers-think-should-be-in-the-labour-manifesto<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The poverty of ambition of the present Labour manifesto is why <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/community\">so many of us are voting Green<\/a> this time.<\/p>\n<p>The other day I happened to come across my print out of Ian Martin&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/2014\/sep\/23\/ian-martin-labour-conference-thick-of-it\">excoriating review<\/a> of the 2014 Labour Conference in Manchester. \u00a0He doesn&#8217;t pull his punches and my highlighter tells it&#8217;s own story.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The first clear chance\u00a0. . . I can&#8217;t remember a more spineless opposition<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I acknowledge that Ed looked more prime ministerial in the most recent debate than I&#8217;ve seen him look before, but it&#8217;s not about the leader it&#8217;s about the party &#8211; slowly, very slowly, their policies sound a little more leftward each time a new one comes out. But, and it&#8217;s a big but.
