Brentford walk(ing) in the rain

September 19th, 2011

Some years ago one lunchtime, while working in a building near Kew Bridge [*], I took a walk along the high road to Brentford and unexpectedly came across some attractive old houses – in disbelief – because they didn’t quite match the somewhat industrial and commercial appearance of the High St.

London Open House provided an opportunity to revisit the area with two knowledgable speakers. A group of about 20 of us withstood the rain for over an hour while taken on a walking tour of the district.  Towards the end of the walk we came to the houses I had seen, The Butts, and I was not at all surprised to hear the area is often used for filming.

Thanks to https://www.brentfordtw8.com/default.asp?section=info&page=walk.htm for the walk.  Ours was free but even on a chargeable day it’s only £2.

Just came across your blog as I was researching A2 Dominion. As an interior designer I am curious as to what your work back ground is (architecture I am guessing) Anyway, GREAT blog, informative, and well informed. I live near the Brentford Butts so must take a look down there. Also hideously sad huge firms can win prizes for such appalling housing
