Garrison Estate Purfleet

UPDATE: Bi-monthly meetings -> Purfleet on Thames Community Forum

Whilst looking for a cheap ex local authority flat to buy in or near London I came across the Garrison Estate at Purfleet and went down to have a look one sunny Saturday.

As a dormitory town it’s got a lot going for it, a fact that has been recognised by the local authority some time ago who drew up a masterplan in 2009 for its regeneration, with the focus mainly around the station which is going to get a new square and the inevitable commuter flats.

Immediately to the west are the Rainham Marshes, a bird sanctuary, with an RSPB visitors centre literally a stones throw from the estate.  Although the area is surrounded by industry – the Eurostar line runs just north of Purfleet, the QEII bridge is nearby, pylons support power lines not far away and the A13 runs close by – the river provides a calming influence and is a delight on a sunny day.

An article about the Rainham Marshes from the London Evening Standard:-

or if that stops working you can read it here:-

Purfleet centre plans may be found at this reference 11/50401/TTGOUT

In fact I found that simply putting the reference into Google was sufficient to bring up details of the development around the station.
