Sometimes a single comment shines out so clearly that it cuts through all the wordy articles that have been written on the subject since last week.  This is one such, not that saying it makes the situation any better but it does make it easier to understand the implications of the ConDem policy.

So when there is a well known shortage of social housing throughout the land they decide on a policy of pushing people out of currently available housing into areas where there is a shortage of social housing already. Thus making the problem many times worse resulting in increased financial, health and social costs whilst people are housed in temporary accomodation and bed and breakfasts which is the worse thing you can do to a family which is trying to get back on its feet again which will cause the state more in all sorts of ways.Some help this lot are neither to themselves or anyone else.

Capping rents and building many more council houses would appear to be the answer but of course this lot won’t and the previous lot didn’t who were supposed to be the alternative.  As I said in a previous comment on the Guardian comments page:-

@BillEdmonds

You couldn’t make this stuff up. No one would find this plot believable in a novel. I see people voting the cons back into power. It’s like turkeys voting for Christmas. You know you’re gonna get screwed by the right, but you vote for them anyway. I don’t get it. Are the brit voters really that stupid?

Labour made themselves almost unelectable. They threw away the chance to roll back Thatcherism and in addition to that started an unnecessary and illegal war and then on top of that created an authoritarian state and showed no signs of slowing that down even as the election approached, they were quite determined to go through with id cards. So what was the alternative? I voted LD for all the good it did me, when they were theoretically the home of the disillusioned Labour voter.

We are truly f****d.
