The Housing Bill – read Architects for Social Housing
January 6th, 2016
If you want know all the reasons why the present housing bill will mean the end of council housing then read this.

. . . and other articles on the same blog.
My praise for ASH is not unqualified. I do not believe that one group of architects ought to be attacking other architects like Alex Ely of MAE who is simply responding to a situation not of his making in designing new blocks on the Aylesbury Estate, and who was responsible for one of the most useful documents to come out of the GLA in recent years, (LHDG). Lobbying Peter John would be more useful.
However, that aside, I like almost everything I’ve read on the ASH blog and recommend it as reading about the current housing situation in London.
The Tories have made it quite obvious by all their actions on housing since 2010 that there will be no progress in a restoration of council housing until we have a leftward shift in politics, and that this has come to pass this year is something to celebrate but Jeremy Corbyn and friends are a long way from power.
